The Belgian Football Association (RBFA) confirmed on Monday that it will not offer a contract extension to national team head coach Rudi Garcia. The Frenchman’s current deal is set to conclude on July 31, 2026, marking the end of his tenure with the squad.
Garcia assumed the role on February 1, 2025, taking over from predecessor Domenico Tedesco. During his 18-month stint—his first experience managing a national team—he oversaw 20 matches, recording 12 victories, 6 draws, and 2 losses. Under his guidance, Belgium successfully maintained its position in League A of the UEFA Nations League and secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup, where the team ultimately reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by eventual champions Spain.
In a formal statement, the association expressed its gratitude for his contributions. “We sincerely thank Rudi Garcia and his staff for their dedication, professionalism and commitment over the past 18 months,” the RBFA noted, adding that they “wish them every success in the future.”
Under Garcia’s leadership, the Belgian national team played 20 matches, winning 12, drawing 6 and losing 2.
