Since late July 2025, there have been at least six documented incidents where neon green sex toys were thrown onto WNBA courts—from games in Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, New York, and Los Angeles.

A cryptocurrency group behind a meme-based token called “Green Dildo Coin” has stepped forward, claiming these disruptions were orchestrated as part of a coordinated marketing stunt to generate viral attention and boost the coin’s value. They deny any sexist intent.

Repercussions and Reactions:

  • Arrests:

    • Delbert Carver, 23, was arrested following the initial incident in Atlanta on July 29.

    • Kaden Lopez, 18, was arrested in Phoenix after allegedly throwing a toy that struck a man and his 9-year-old niece.

  • League Response:
The WNBA issued a firm statement emphasizing player and fan safety, warning that anyone caught throwing objects on the court will face immediate ejection, a minimum one-year ban, and potential legal action.

  • Player Condemnation:
WNBA athletes and coaches have condemned the incidents as dangerous, disrespectful, and reflective of a misogynistic trend. Indiana’s Sophie Cunningham, who was herself nearly hit, wrote on social media:

“stop throwing dildos on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us.”
Chicago Sky center Elizabeth Williams called the acts “super disrespectful,” while coaches such as Cheryl Reeve and Lynne Roberts labeled them dangerous and immature.
