Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad Attends Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in Abu Dhabi

Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Chairman of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency, recently visited the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi to witness the ongoing Ju-Jitsu World Championship 2026. The event, which showcases elite male and female athletes from across the globe, highlights the sport’s growing international prominence.

During his visit, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad closely followed several under-18 bouts, noting the high level of competition displayed by rising stars from various nations. He also participated in the medal ceremonies, presenting awards to the top-performing athletes and commending their dedication and success on the global stage.

Reflecting on the event, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad emphasized that Abu Dhabi’s role as host underscores the emirate’s commitment to the sports sector. He highlighted the city’s world-class infrastructure and organizational expertise, which continue to attract major international sporting events while fostering the development of athletic talent at both regional and global levels.

Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, remarked that the presence of Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamad serves as a significant source of motivation for the competitors. He noted that such high-level support acknowledges the hard work of the athletes and encourages them to strive for excellence in their future performances.

The 18th edition of the championship is scheduled to run through August 9, featuring a diverse field of over 1,500 participants across the under-16, under-18, under-21, and adult divisions. The tournament is being hosted by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation in collaboration with the Ju-Jitsu International Federation.

Looking ahead, the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation has already established an organizing committee for the upcoming 18th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship (ADWPJJC). This event is slated to take place at the Mubadala Arena from November 9 to 21, 2026. Serving as the grand finale of the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP) Tour, the committee will be led by Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri as Chairman, with Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi serving as Vice Chairman to oversee the world’s largest jiu-jitsu competition.
