Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos Linked to Potential Minority Stake in Liverpool FC

A consortium including billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has advanced its talks to buy about a 30% stake in Liverpool, Sport has been told. The investment group is led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia and includes Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin.

Bhatia is the son-in-law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal and served as a director and co-owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before stepping down last month. Bezos, the e-commerce titan and fourth-richest person globally, is a key figure in this potential deal.

According to Forbes, the 62-year-old Bezos has an estimated net worth of $256bn (£192bn). Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which acquired Liverpool for £300m in 2010, confirmed last month that the consortium had “expressed interest in making a strategic minority investment in Liverpool Football Club.”

FSG previously sold a minority stake in the Anfield club to the global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity. When Sport contacted FSG regarding the latest developments, the ownership group had no further comment.

The interest comes as the club continues to show strong financial growth. In January, Deloitte analysis named Liverpool the top-earning Premier League club for the first time, followed by the announcement of record revenues of £703m for the 2024-25 financial year.
