Paris Saint-Germain has officially signed Spanish international Ferran Torres from Barcelona in a deal reportedly worth 50 million euros ($58m). The 26-year-old forward, who famously scored the decisive extra-time goal in last month’s World Cup final to deny Argentina, has committed to the Ligue 1 club through 2031.
In a club statement released on Saturday, Torres expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating he is “delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris St Germain.” He also extended his gratitude to PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, football advisor Luis Campos, and head coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity to join the squad and compete for major trophies.
The transfer reunites Torres with Luis Enrique, who previously managed him during his tenure as Spain’s national team coach, where he handed the forward his international debut in a 2020 Nations League match against Germany. Known by the nickname “The Shark,” Torres leaves Barcelona after a successful stint that included three La Liga titles. During his four and a half seasons in Catalonia, he recorded 65 goals in 207 appearances, including a crucial goal in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid. In his final campaign, he contributed 21 goals and three assists across 49 matches as Barcelona successfully defended their league crown.
Barcelona acknowledged the departure on their official website, thanking the 65-times-capped player for his commitment and wishing him well in his future professional endeavors. Torres, who arrived at Barcelona during the 2021/22 season, now transitions to the French capital as a key addition to the PSG roster.
The arrival of Torres in Paris may have broader implications for the transfer market, specifically regarding Liverpool’s interest in PSG winger Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old Frenchman, who impressed during the World Cup, has been the subject of ongoing negotiations between the two clubs. Reports indicate that a potential deal has been stalled for weeks due to PSG’s valuation of the player, which stands at approximately 150 million euros ($173m).
