Reigning world champion Lando Norris, currently fifth in the standings, begins the first race following Formula 1’s summer break from pole position. Despite his qualifying success at Zandvoort, the McLaren driver expects a significantly tougher challenge than his comfortable victory in Hungary last month.
Sprint Race Lessons
- Norris started second to Mercedes’ George Russell in Saturday’s sprint, a reversal of their current grand prix grid positions.
- Russell secured a comfortable sprint victory while Norris struggled, eventually falling behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc during the closing stages.
Norris remains wary of a repeat performance during Sunday’s main event. Regarding his qualifying result, he stated: “I’m not thinking of tomorrow, just thinking: I’m on pole. Let me enjoy it. I will do my preparation tonight, prepare well, learn as much as we can from this morning, see what we can do better.” The report also notes that norris is wary of something similar happening again.
