Reflecting on her challenging shooting night, Reese noted that she focused on her rebounding to contribute to the win. “Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit anything, so I knew I was going to be able to get them on the rebounding side,” she shared during the postgame broadcast. “I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win.” Reese finished the contest with 11 points, securing her league-leading 27th double-double of the season with a basket in the final 14 seconds.
Teammate Allisha Gray, who led Atlanta with 20 points and set a franchise record for field goals in a single season with 247, expressed admiration for the rookie’s effort, stating, “That’s a talent. I’m just in awe watching her rebound.” Rhyne Howard also contributed significantly to the win, scoring 18 points to surpass the 3,000-career-point milestone. The victory marked the ninth consecutive time the Dream have defeated the Sparks, improving Atlanta’s record to 25-13.
For the Sparks, who fell to 13-25, Nneka Ogwumike recorded a double-double with 27 points and 16 rebounds, while teammates Cameron Brink and Dearica Hamby each added 15 points. Reese, who led the league in rebounding during her first two professional seasons, currently maintains an average of 12.0 rebounds per game. Her career accolades already include setting a rookie rebounding record of 13.1 per game and an all-time league record of 15 consecutive double-doubles during her 2024 campaign with the Chicago Sky.
