Bangladesh Football League Kicks Off Today Across Five Venues

The Bangladesh Football League (BFL) season officially gets underway today, adhering to the schedule set by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). The opening day will feature five simultaneous matches held at five different venues, with each game scheduled to kick off at 3:00 PM. Prior to the matches, an opening ceremony for the league will take place at each venue at 2:45 PM.

Today’s action features several key matchups: Fortis FC faces new club Chittagong City at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, while Bangladesh Police FC meets Rahmatganj at the Shahid Barkat Stadium in Gazipur. Other fixtures include Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club against Wanderers at the Chandpur District Stadium, Brothers Union taking on City Club at the Gopalganj District Stadium, and Dhaka Abahoni playing PWDS Sports Club at the Shahid Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj. Tomorrow, defending champions Bashundhara Kings will face Arambagh Krira Sangha at the Gopalganj District Stadium.

Ahead of the new season, Mohammedan Sporting Club had requested the return of nine players currently participating in the national team training camp. The BFF, however, has not responded to this request. Given the upcoming ASEAN Cup, the federation is maintaining its stance of keeping the national players in camp. In response, Mohammedan is now planning to send a formal letter to the BFF requesting to reschedule their first two league matches, which are slated for September 25 and 29 at the Chandpur District Stadium. Notably, Mohammedan is set to start their campaign on September 25 against Fakirerpool.
