Ahead of the upcoming Asian Games, Bangladesh cricketers split into two squads for a competitive practice match held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The match featured Litton Das leading ‘Team A’ against a ‘Team B’ captained by Nurul Hasan Sohan, with Sohan’s side ultimately claiming a convincing six-wicket win.
Team A batted first, putting up a total of 140 runs within their allotted 20 overs. Although they made a promising start, the innings lost momentum after an initial second-wicket partnership of 66 runs between Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan Tamim. While Saif Hassan departed early with 16 runs on the board, Tanzid anchored the innings with a solid 55 off 46 balls, hitting four boundaries and two sixes. In contrast, the middle order struggled as Towhid Hridoy managed only 4, Yasir Ali Rabbi scored 14, and Sheikh Mahedi contributed 7 runs.
Bowling for Team B, Shoriful Islam stood out with an impressive spell, conceding just 18 runs and taking 2 wickets in his 4 overs. Rishad Hossain also made a significant impact by claiming the crucial wickets of Litton and Tanzid, though he proved slightly expensive, conceding 34 runs in his 4 overs.
Chasing the 141-run target, Team B relied on a steady start from Soumya Sarkar and Naim Sheikh. Naim scored 29 off 26 deliveries before falling at the team total of 54, while Parvez Emon failed to leave his mark, dismissed for just 2 runs off 8 balls. Sabbir Rahman provided a steady 26 off 26 deliveries, but it was Soumya Sarkar who headlined the chase with a brilliant 61-run knock off 44 balls, featuring four sixes and four fours. Although Soumya was eventually dismissed by Nasum Ahmed with 22 runs still needed, captain Nurul Hasan Sohan remained composed, scoring 17 off 13 balls to guide his team to victory with three balls to spare. Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi, Hasan Mahmud, and Rubel Mia each picked up one wicket during the second innings.
