The selection of the final venue for the 2030 FIFA World Cup remains a point of significant discussion. With Spain and Morocco serving as co-hosts, both nations are actively competing for the right to stage the championship match. While the under-construction Hassan II Stadium in Casablanca remains a notable contender, there is a growing sense of optimism within the Barcelona city council, the Catalan government, and the club itself that the Spotify Camp Nou is the ideal candidate. With both nations vying to host the showpiece event, the tournament will be hosted jointly by Spain and Morocco. As for Spain, two options have been doing the rounds, Barcelona ’s Spotify Camp Nou and Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu. Largely because of political considerations, leading to the possibility of the final being played in Morocco, there has been a general feeling that Spain’s chances are limited. Antonio Escudero, the vice-president responsible for the social area at Barcelona, expressed his optimism during a recent interview. He emphasized that the club remains highly confident about their chances, stating, “We would really like it. I think so, it’s very possible. Sports authorities around the world are on board.” He went on to suggest that the likelihood of the stadium being selected is high, noting, “There is a very high probability that it will be that way.”
This confidence is reinforced by the decision to grant the venue hosting rights for the 2029 UEFA Champions League final. These internal views align with broader institutional efforts to secure the marquee event despite persistent concerns over political factors potentially influencing the final choice.
Stadium Operations and Financial Stance
Beyond the stadium’s international ambitions, club leadership has sought to clarify internal financial matters for the membership. Escudero addressed recent speculation regarding potential price adjustments for match-day attendance, specifically regarding season-ticket pricing. No plans to increase season-ticket prices.

Regarding the transition back to the modernized stadium, Escudero admitted that he had initially been skeptical about the necessity of moving to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys at Montjuic, noting, “I was critical of it. I wouldn’t have actually left Montjuic, but they decided against it.” He acknowledged that the ultimate decision to relocate during the construction period involved complex external pressures and financing requirements that were outside the club’s immediate control.
