Naman Dhir has been added to India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against West Indies, taking the place of Washington Sundar. Selectors pulled Washington from the T20I lineup to let him gain valuable red-ball match practice ahead of the demanding two-Test series beginning November 19 in Wellington, with the Ranji Trophy season scheduled to start on October 11.
Dhir, who recently debuted in ODIs in Trivandrum, remains uncapped in international T20 cricket. Across 61 T20 appearances, he has accumulated 1,222 runs at a 156.26 strike rate alongside eight wickets. During the 2026 IPL season, he played all 14 matches for the Mumbai Indians, contributing 318 runs with a 147.22 strike rate and two fifties. In 61 T20s, however, he has scored 1222 runs at a strike-rate of 156.26 and taken eight wickets at an economy of 9.40.
In a separate squad adjustment, selectors brought in fast bowler Anshul Kamboj for the third ODI in New Chandigarh. Kamboj replaces Prasidh Krishna, who suffered a hamstring injury and will undergo rehabilitation at Bengaluru’s Centre of Excellence. Kamboj, who debuted in Tests last year in Manchester, has not yet played limited-overs international cricket and is currently playing for India A in unofficial Tests against Australia A in Puducherry. Who as confirmed earlier, has been ruled out of the game after sustaining a hamstring injury, kamboj will replace Prasidh Krishna. He will now proceed to rehab at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
