The Bangladesh Under-19 women’s cricket team has officially qualified for the final of the ongoing tri-nation series in Pakistan. In a dominant performance at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Sunday, the Young Tigresses defeated the host nation by 32 runs, securing their place in the championship match with one league game still remaining.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh posted a challenging total of 136 for 5 in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Sadia Islam led the charge with a standout knock of 44 runs off just 28 deliveries, featuring three boundaries and two sixes. Additional contributions came from Shirina Khatun, who scored 32 off 40 balls, and Nishita Akter Nishi, who added 20 off 20. A late-order cameo from Sadia Akter, who smashed 14 runs off only 7 balls, helped propel the team to a competitive score.
Chasing a target of 137, the Pakistani side struggled against Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack and managed only 104 for 9. Opener Ravail Farhan offered some resistance with 36 runs from 26 balls, while Aksa chipped in with 23 and Rozina contributed 13. However, these efforts proved insufficient against the clinical Bangladeshi bowling unit.
Pacer Farzana Yasmin was the standout performer for Bangladesh, claiming 3 wickets for 19 runs, while Nishita Akter Nishi supported well with figures of 2 for 21. Bangladesh is set to face Sri Lanka in the tournament final, which will also be hosted at the Iqbal Stadium on October 16. Before the title clash, Bangladesh will play a final group stage match against Sri Lanka, though the result will not affect their standing in the tournament.
