In their final group stage match of the ongoing U-19 women’s tri-nation series in Pakistan, Bangladesh suffered a significant eight-wicket loss against Sri Lanka at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Wednesday. Batting first, the Bangladeshi side struggled early and was bundled out for just 58 runs in 17.3 overs.

The innings quickly fell apart as Bangladesh lost their first five wickets for only 12 runs. Opener Maimuna Nahar provided some resistance, scoring 23 off 26 balls, while Sadia Akhter contributed 17 runs off 26 deliveries. Aside from them, no other batter managed to reach double digits. For Sri Lanka, Limansa excelled with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Siumini supported the effort with 2 wickets.

Chasing a modest target of 59, Sri Lanka reached the goal with 58 balls to spare. Despite an early wobble, the Lankans secured a comfortable victory led by Vimuksha’s quick-fire 22 off 18 balls. Nethmi added 17 runs and Limansa contributed 10 to guide the team to victory, while Bangladesh’s Farzana Yasmin Medha and Tithi Das Aparna each took one wicket.

The two sides are now set to meet again in the tournament final, which is scheduled to take place at the same venue in Faisalabad on October 16.
