The tri-nation cricket series featuring Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, and Afghanistan has commenced today in the United Arab Emirates, with Bangladesh facing Zimbabwe in the opening match. However, the Bangladesh squad suffered a significant blow just before the game as regular captain Litton Das was ruled out of the entire series due to an injury.

BCB physiotherapist Bayejidul Islam confirmed the development, noting that Litton reported discomfort in his right hip yesterday. An MRI scan subsequently revealed an issue in the joint. Despite efforts to clear a fitness test today, the captain failed to meet the required benchmarks, rendering him unavailable for the remainder of the series. Towhid Hridoy has taken over the captaincy duties in his absence for the match.

In addition to Litton’s absence, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz is also missing the clash against Zimbabwe. According to the physiotherapist, Miraz has been suffering from a fever for the past three days and was deemed unfit for today’s match. The team management is currently monitoring the situation as they adjust their lineup for the tournament.
