South Africa has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, entering the contest with the confidence of a recent Test series victory against Australia. The squad features the return of Tony de Zorzi, Zubayr Hamza, and Anrich Nortje after recovering from injuries, while fast bowler Lungi Ngidi misses out as he continues his rehabilitation.
Head coach Shukri Conrad stated that the team aims to maintain the momentum and consistency they displayed against Australia. Given the higher pace and bounce typical of Highveld pitches, South Africa has placed a strong emphasis on expanding their pace-bowling options for the series.
The opening Test is scheduled to begin on November 15 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, followed by the second and final match starting November 23 in Centurion. The two sides last met in a Test series on South African soil in 2022, where the hosts swept the series 2-0.
South Africa Test squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Marques Ackerman, Matthew Breetzke, Corbin Bosch, Tony de Zorzi, Simon Harmer, Zubayr Hamza, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Anrich Nortje, Dane Paterson, Kagiso Rabada, and Ryan Rickelton.
