Actor Anson Boon, known for his performances in projects like Pistol and MobLand is an avid Tottenham Hotspur supporter whose connection to the club spans generations. Whose star is on the rise after leading parts in Disney+ series Pistol and the Paramount+ hit MobLand, the latest guest in our Football Muse series is actor Anson Boon. Why did you start supporting Tottenham and what are your earliest football memories. My second has to be going to watch the England team train at Hotspur Way earlier this year. What did you make of the summer spending and signings. An opposition player you secretly admire. Which one would you choose, if you could score any goal in football history. And watch players like Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa, it would’ve been great to be there and see those games live. ‘The club were considering loaning me out again, but I told them I wanted to stay and prove myself’ – Harry Kane on turning down leaving Tottenham in 2013 Get French Football News. ‘I’d Have Liked’ – Tottenham Star Gives Qualified Congratulations To Harry Kane Inside Futbol. Tottenham insider feels it’s a ‘shame’ about Dele Alli after Harry Kane Ballon d’Or win Football365.
Reflecting on his footballing roots, Boon recalls his family’s deep ties to the area, noting that his late grandfather was a passionate Spurs fan. The journey to the final was just incredible. It’s extraordinary, and getting to see Kane and all the boys train up close and chat to them afterwards was an experience I will never forget, it was incredible to see the set-up Spurs have.
While he grew up outside of London, the club remained a central part of his identity. I grew up out of London and whenever I went to a football match it was my local club – Peterborough United.
He often attended matches alone at White Hart Lane starting at age 16, fully embracing the atmosphere of the stadium he still prefers to call by its traditional name. It was great that we held on to Van De Ven, Bergvall and Archie Gray.
His personal experiences as a fan are highlighted by two major moments: the club’s 2018/19 Champions League campaign and witnessing Heung-Min Son’s spectacular solo goal against Burnley in 2019. I have a few, but there are two highlights.
Boon describes the experience of watching that goal from directly behind the goal line as a vivid, unforgettable highlight.
His family history with the team is equally rich, filled with memories of his mother and her extended family celebrating Tottenham’s successes during the 1980s victory parades on Tottenham High Road. So it was better as a family to gather and support our local team, my Dad and brother actually support Aston Villa.
A surprise connection formed for the actor when he encountered Thomas Tuchel on a flight back to London following the production ofMobLand. After discovering they shared a common interest in football, the manager invited Boon to observe the team at their training facilities. Beyond his personal encounters, Boon expressed immense pride regarding Harry Kane’s recent Ballon d’Or victory, describing the striker as the greatest of all time and a thoroughly deserving recipient of the honor. Obviously we all know how it sadly ended.
When asked about the club’s future under manager Roberto De Zerbi, the actor noted that he has spent years cultivating a sense of optimism. Are you confident Roberto De Zerbi can get things right, it’s been a tough couple of seasons for Spurs. I was always excited when I saw rumours of Spurs eyeing him up over the years.
He remains enthusiastic about the current squad, particularly the emerging younger talents.
Although he grew up idolizing Jack Grealish, he joked about his own likeness, noting that people frequently tell him he bears a physical resemblance to Frenkie De Jong.
If he were to ever portray a figure from the world of football, he admits that the legendary Paul Gascoigne would be his top choice.
