Bangladesh opener Shadman Islam sustained a painful injury while fielding on the second day of the ongoing Sylhet Test. According to the BCB medical department, the player suffered a sprained ankle and is currently under observation.

Team physiologist Bayejidul Islam provided further details, confirming that Shadman’s left ankle is sprained. He noted that the medical staff plans to send the cricketer for an MRI scan to determine the full extent of the damage. While there is no official word yet on his availability to bat, the severity of the injury suggests that his participation in the first innings remains highly unlikely.

The incident occurred when the opener attempted to stop a boundary on the damp, dew-covered outfield. His foot became stuck in the grass, causing him to twist his ankle. The pain was immediate, and Shadman was visibly struggling on the field. Ultimately, the injury was severe enough to require him to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
