The ICC has officially confirmed that Nepal will host the Men’s ODI World Cup Qualifier playoff this December. The tournament is scheduled to begin on December 4, with the hosts taking on Italy at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, while Namibia squares off against Uganda at the Mulapani Cricket Ground simultaneously. The ICC confirmed on Friday (November 6), the Men’s ODI World Cup Qualifier playoff will be held in Nepal in December.
Alongside these four nations, Canada, Kuwait, Jersey, and the United Arab Emirates complete the eight-team field. These sides are vying for the final four positions in the 2027 ODI World Cup Qualifier. The upcoming 10-team global qualifier is already set to feature Ireland and the West Indies, who qualified as the highest-ranked teams outside the automatic qualifiers, alongside Full Member hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe. Additionally, the USA, Scotland, the Netherlands, and Oman have secured their places via the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
Success in the 10-team global qualifier remains critical, as the winner will earn a direct ticket to the group stages of the ODI World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Furthermore, teams finishing in the second, third, and fourth positions in the global qualifier will progress to the Super Series.
