In a raid conducted at a clinic in Buenos Aires, Argentina, police seized all medical records related to the treatment of football legend Diego Maradona. The operation was carried out under a court order.
Following Maradona’s death, seven healthcare workers have been accused of negligence in his treatment. The court issued this order as part of a further investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Pablo Dimitrof, the medical director of the Los Olivos clinic, testified in court that Maradona had undergone several tests before his surgery, and a neurosurgeon at the clinic completed the operation without complications.
However, these tests were not included in Maradona’s medical records. As a result, the judges ordered the seizure of all medical documents related to his treatment from November 3 to November 11, 2020.
Maradona underwent surgery to treat a blood clot (hematoma) between his brain and skull. He was kept in the clinic’s intensive care unit (ICU) from November 4 to November 11. Afterwards, he was sent to a private residence for rest, where he passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60.
The raid began at midnight on Wednesday and lasted for four hours, continuing until early Thursday morning.
Police reported that they seized nearly 275 pages of documents and 547 emails exchanged between the doctors involved in Maradona’s treatment.
