Just days after the UEFA Champions League finalists were confirmed, the finalists for UEFA’s two other top-tier tournaments—the Europa League and the Conference League—have now also been decided. Of the four teams heading to the finals, three are from the English Premier League: Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. The fourth finalist is Spanish side Real Betis.
The semi-final matches for both competitions were held late Thursday night.
In one of the UEFA Conference League semi-finals, Real Betis faced Italian club Fiorentina in the second leg, held at Fiorentina’s home ground. The match ended in a 2–2 draw. Betis’ goals came from Anthony and Abde Ezzalzouli, while Robin Gosens scored both goals for Fiorentina. Though Fiorentina took the lead after trailing, Betis equalised in extra time. With a 4–3 aggregate win over two legs, Real Betis advanced to the final.
In the other Conference League semi-final, Chelsea hosted Swedish club Djurgårdens at Stamford Bridge. A 38th-minute goal by Dewsbury-Hall gave Chelsea the lead, and no further goals followed. Having already won the first leg 4–1, Chelsea secured their spot in the final with a 5–1 aggregate victory. This will be the club’s eighth European final. Their last appearance was in the 2021 Champions League final, where they beat Manchester City 1–0.
Meanwhile, the UEFA Europa League semi-finals also concluded with victories for two English clubs: Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United defeated Spanish side Athletic Club 4–1 in the second leg, clinching the tie with a 7–1 aggregate. Goals in the return leg came from Mason Mount (2), Casemiro, and Rasmus Højlund, while Mikel Zorrilla scored a consolation for Athletic.
Tottenham Hotspur also secured their place in the final by beating Bodø/Glimt 2–0 at the Aspmyra Stadion in Norway. Goals were scored in the second half by Dominic Solanke and Pedro Porro. Having already won the first leg 3–1, Spurs advanced with a 5–1 aggregate scoreline.
