In the fifth round of the Open section at the Asian Individual Chess Championship in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia held Singapore Grandmaster Jagdish Siddharth to a draw. Fellow FIDE Master Sakline Mostafa Sajid defeated UAE’s Candidate Master Mohammad Saeed Leil.
However, it was a tough day for International Master Monon Reza Neer, who suffered his first loss of the tournament, falling to Uzbekistan’s International Master Suarov Mukhammadzokhid. In the women’s division, Women FIDE Master Noshin Anjum lost to Iranian WFM Mohammadi Melika.
After five rounds, both IM Monon Reza Neer and FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia have scored 2.5 points out of 5. FM Sakline Mostafa Sajid has earned 2 points from his five games. In the women’s section, WFM Noshin Anjum also stands at 2 points after five rounds.
