PCB Plans Ahead for PSL

by Sports Desk

After enduring the horrors of military conflict, neighboring countries India and Pakistan are gradually returning to normal life. Tensions had escalated significantly between the two nations over the Kashmir region. However, with mediation from the United States, the situation has now largely stabilized, and normalcy is beginning to return to both countries. This renewed calm is also having an impact on the world of cricket.

In India, a new schedule has been announced for the previously postponed IPL. Pakistan, however, is still slightly behind in this regard. That said, officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are not in favor of further delays. They are actively working to resume the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as soon as possible.

Meetings are ongoing with stakeholders from various levels of PSL governance. According to Pakistani media outlets, the league could resume between May 16 and 18. However, uncertainty remains over the participation of foreign players. After being relocated to Dubai, many overseas cricketers have returned to their home countries, making it difficult to bring them back on short notice.

Meanwhile, the PCB has begun finalizing internal plans. As per the initial roadmap, all six PSL teams are expected to assemble in the country’s capital with full squads by May 14. Efforts are also underway to bring back foreign players.

Although there was previously consideration of relocating the PSL abroad, the PCB is now determined to conclude the tournament on home soil. The board is not seeking new venues for the remaining 10 matches.

In addition to the PSL, the PCB is also working diligently to organize a five-match T20 series against Bangladesh on schedule. The board is in regular communication with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The series is expected to begin on May 25.
