Carlo Ancelotti appointed Brazil coach

by Sports Desk

After months of speculation, it is now all but confirmed—Carlo Ancelotti is set to become the head coach of the Brazil national football team. According to various international sports media outlets, the Italian manager will take charge of the five-time world champions later this May.

On Monday (12 May) The news gained further credibility when renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed Ancelotti’s move to Brazil through a post on social media.

Initially, the official announcement was expected after the conclusion of the Spanish La Liga season. However, both the BBC and Romano have now reported that Ancelotti is likely to begin his role as Brazil’s head coach from May 26. This means the Seleção will have him fully in charge from June onwards.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has also confirmed that Ancelotti is indeed arriving in May, although their official statement did not specify an exact date.

Ancelotti’s appointment marks a historic moment for Brazilian football. He will become the first-ever foreign manager to take on a full-time role as head coach of the national team. While Brazil has had foreign coaches in temporary or secondary roles in the past, the position of permanent head coach has always been held by Brazilians—until now.

Ancelotti has been managing Real Madrid since June 2021. His upcoming move to Brazil is seen as a groundbreaking step both for his career and for the Seleção.
