Carlo Ancelotti has officially been named the next head coach of Brazil and is set to take over on May 26. Despite this, he maintains that there are no hard feelings with Real Madrid. After winning 15 trophies over two stints — including three UEFA Champions League titles — the Italian coach is expected to leave the club with his head held high at the end of the season. However, signs of unrest are already emerging at the Santiago Bernabeu even before his departure.
Last Sunday’s dramatic 4–3 El Clásico loss to Barcelona has significantly dented Real Madrid’s chances of winning La Liga. With just three games remaining, they now trail Barça by 7 points. If Real fails to defeat Mallorca at home today, Barcelona could mathematically clinch the title.
Still, Ancelotti insists he’s focused on finishing strong rather than dwelling on standings: “I’ve had a fantastic time here. I have two weeks left, and I want to finish them in the best possible way,” he said. “Everything has an end. I’ve never had any problems with this club — and I never will. Becoming Brazil’s coach is a huge challenge, but until then, I remain Real Madrid’s manager and will give my best.”
Alongside Ancelotti, another Brazilian may also be on his way out — forward Rodrygo. Rumors suggest he’s heading to the Premier League, possibly due to tension with teammates Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe. Allegedly, Rodrygo refused to come on as a substitute during the recent El Clásico due to internal conflict. He is not expected to feature against Mallorca and missed training on Monday.
Ancelotti, however, dismissed the controversy as speculation: “Rodrygo had a fever last week. Despite trying hard, he wasn’t in top shape and complained of pain in his leg. Our medical staff is looking into it. The entire squad cares deeply for him — especially me,” he said.
Even so, reports suggest that incoming coach Xabi Alonso does not see Rodrygo in his future plans. Alonso reportedly prefers building his attacking line around Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., and Bellingham. As a result, the 24-year-old Rodrygo is believed to be exploring transfer options, with Manchester City and Liverpool both rumored to be in contact.
