Mustafizur World Record in International T20s

by Sports Desk

For a significant portion of the match in Sharjah, the UAE stayed competitive. But time and again Mustafizur Rahman pulled the momentum back in Bangladesh’s favor. In the two death overs he bowled, Mustafizur delivered a remarkable seven dot balls, conceding just one wicket. But it was those dot balls that truly turned the tide.

Thanks to those seven dot balls Mustafizur Rahman has etched his name into T20I history. He is now the first bowler ever in T20 internationals to bowl 300 dot balls in death overs—a record no one else has come close to. He was already the leader in this category, but Saturday’s performance took his record to another level.

The feat came in the first match of the T20I series against the UAE. Remarkably, when Mustafizur reached 300 death-over dot balls, no other bowler had even reached 250. The next closest is England’s Chris Jordan with 241.

241 – Chris Jordan (England)

240 – Tim Southee (New Zealand)

222 – Haris Rauf (Pakistan)

208 – Jasprit Bumrah (India)

Among these five, Mustafizur ranks third in terms of runs conceded in death overs. Jasprit Bumrah and Haris Rauf lead this particular metric. Mustafizur has given away 990 runs from 725 balls in 87 innings, while Bumrah has conceded 563 runs in 495 balls, and Rauf has allowed 782 runs off 586 balls.

In terms of wickets in death overs, only Tim Southee is ahead of Mustafizur. Southee has taken 65 wickets in 100 innings, while Mustafizur has picked up 63 wickets in 87 innings.

Even outside international cricket, Mustafizur’s death-over impact remains elite. Across all forms of T20 cricket, he has now bowled 816 dot balls in the death overs—ranking third all-time.
