Vaibhav ends IPL with a record

by Sports Desk

In what turned out to be his final appearance of the 2025 IPL season, Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again showcased his immense potential. Facing Chennai Super Kings, the young batter delivered a brilliant performance, smashing 57 runs off 33 balls, including four fours and four sixes, to help Rajasthan Royals end their campaign on a high.

With those four sixes, Suryavanshi etched his name into the record books by becoming the youngest player in IPL history to hit 24 sixes in a single season, matching the record set by Rishabh Pant in 2017. Pant was 19 years and 7 months old when he achieved the feat. In contrast, Suryavanshi is only 14 years and 1 month old, making his achievement all the more remarkable.

However, he will have to share the record, as Rajasthan Royals have played their final match of the season and won’t be progressing to the playoffs. Despite that, they ended their campaign in style with a dominant 6-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings.

Batting first at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Chennai posted 187 for 8. In response, Rajasthan chased down the target with 17 balls to spare, thanks to explosive contributions from Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Dhruv Jurel.

With just 4 wins in 14 league matches, Rajasthan finished with 8 points and placed ninth in the standings. Chennai, too, had a disappointing season and finished last (10th) in the 10-team tournament, well out of playoff contention.
