Ten Hag Takes Charge of Leverkusen

by Sports Desk

Erik ten Hag, who was sacked by Manchester United on October 24 last year due to poor performances, has been without a job ever since. However, the 55-year-old Dutch coach is now on the verge of returning to management — and not just anywhere, but potentially at Bayer Leverkusen, the club recently vacated by Xabi Alonso.

According to a report from ESPN, citing internal sources, constructive talks have already taken place between Ten Hag and Leverkusen representatives. Both parties are reportedly optimistic that a deal will be finalized soon.

Sources also indicate that Ten Hag is not interested in returning to his former club Ajax, despite the head coach position there currently being vacant. Instead, he appears more inclined to take up the challenge of managing in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen.

Xabi Alonso, who has successfully coached Leverkusen since 2022, is expected to take charge of Real Madrid from next season. Although there has been no official confirmation yet, several sources suggest Alonso’s move to Madrid is all but finalized — prompting Leverkusen to begin their search for a new head coach.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti has stepped down as Real Madrid’s head coach at the end of the current season. From Monday, he will officially begin his new role as the head coach of the Brazil national team. As a result, Real Madrid had also been looking for a high-profile manager — a search that appears to have ended with Alonso.
