Organizers have unveiled the technical and administrative framework for the first-ever Al Majed Classic Bodybuilding Championship, scheduled to run from November 27 to 29. The event promises a substantial total prize purse of Dhs400,000, aiming to draw a wide array of competitors and provide a professional platform for emerging talent to hone their skills and advance toward larger international competitions. The official announcement took place during a press conference at the Mandarin Oriental Jumeira in Dubai. Key figures in attendance included Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the UAE Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation, alongside Vice Chairman Ali Bin Haider and Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Majed, who serves as Vice President of the UAE Weightlifting Federation and Chairman of the event’s Higher Organizing Committee. With improvements in the level of competition, attendance, and number of participants, al Majed added that the organizing committee aims to build on this year’s edition and deliver an even bigger event next year.

During the briefing, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamad Bin Saif Al Sharqi lauded the contributors behind the event for their dedication to the sport. Addressing the organizers, he stated, “You have contributed greatly to UAE sport and to bodybuilding athletes, and you are the backbone of UAE bodybuilding.” He expressed confidence that the championship would quickly establish itself as a prestigious fixture on the global sporting calendar, while also acknowledging the leadership of board members and officials, including Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Marri, Faisal Al Zaabi, Mohammed Shaheen Al Hosani, Ahmed Johar, and Abdul Majeed Yazbek. He also praised the efforts of those involved and their contributions to the development of sport in the UAE.

Registration for the various bodybuilding weight categories and divisions is now officially open. Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Majed highlighted that the committee is prioritizing a high turnout, intending to discover new prospects and offer them a pathway to develop their competitive potential. He confirmed that planning is already looking beyond the inaugural edition, with aspirations to scale the event’s competitiveness and participant numbers in future years.

The technical standards for the event are set to be rigorous, with Faisal Al Zaabi announcing a judging panel of 16 experts. This group will consist of 11 judges from the UAE, two representatives from the International Federation, and three from across the GCC region. This cross-regional expertise is intended to ensure fair and high-level evaluation of all athletes participating in the championship.

Support for the initiative remains robust across the sporting community. Mohammed Abdulrahim Al Marri noted that the Federation is working in lockstep with the organizing committee to ensure the project’s success, emphasizing its role in fostering local talent for national team consideration. Mohammed Shaheen Al Hosani, serving as Chairman of the Federation’s Technical Committee, reiterated that the event serves as a primary pipeline for selecting the next generation of UAE national team representatives.
