Richard Childress Racing announced on Monday that Austin Hill will pilot the No. 33 Chevrolet on a full-time basis in the NASCAR Cup Series starting next season. This promotion marks a significant milestone for Hill, who has been a consistent presence within the organization’s developmental pipeline.
While Hill has participated in 15 Cup Series races during the current season, he has yet to secure a top-10 finish. However, his track record in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series remains impressive; over the past five seasons, he has accumulated 16 victories while driving RCR’s No. 21 Chevrolet and has successfully qualified for the Chase in each of those years.
Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of RCR, praised Hill’s development, noting that his work ethic and success across multiple racing levels have prepared him for this advancement. Childress emphasized that the team has observed Hill’s growth as both a driver and an individual, and they look forward to his continued progress in the Cup Series. RCR maintains a strong reputation for cultivating top-tier talent, having previously developed drivers such as Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, and Tyler Reddick.
