The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to resume soon after the conclusion of the IPL, but this has cast uncertainty over the upcoming Bangladesh-Pakistan T20I series. Originally, the five-match T20 series between the two nations was scheduled to begin on May 25. However, with the PSL’s resumption announced recently, doubts have arisen over whether the series will go ahead as planned.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed via social media that the remaining matches of PSL 10 will be held from May 17, with the final scheduled for May 25 — the same date the Bangladesh series is set to begin.
This scheduling conflict between the PSL and the national team’s international commitments is already creating complications. While the first two T20Is are scheduled to be played in Faisalabad, a venue not hosting any PSL matches, organizing both the PSL final and an international series match on the same day would be logistically challenging. More importantly, several Pakistani national team players are also participating in the PSL, raising questions about their availability.
As of now, there has been no official announcement about postponing the series. However, the overlapping dates suggest that hosting both events simultaneously may not be realistic, prompting speculation about a possible delay in the Bangladesh series.
Pakistani media had earlier reported that the series would be hosted in Pakistan and that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had no objections. However, within Bangladesh’s cricketing circles, the prospect of a Pakistan tour has sparked mixed reactions.
For now, the Bangladesh-Pakistan T20I series remains caught in a web of scheduling uncertainty.
