Shaun Tait has officially been appointed as the new pace bowling coach of the Bangladesh national team. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has signed a contract with the 42-year-old Australian until November 2027. Tait is expected to join the team later this month.
The former Australian fast bowler expressed his excitement about the opportunity to work with Bangladesh’s pace unit. Tait is eager to contribute to the new era of Bangladesh cricket, with a particular interest in developing the country’s young fast bowlers.
Having worked previously in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Tait is already familiar with many local players and the cricket culture of the country. One of those players is Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who shared his positive experience working with Tait during a previous BPL season when they were both with Chattogram.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Miraz said:
“I’ve worked with Shaun Tait before. When I was captain of Chattogram in the BPL, he was our coach. We had a great understanding. As a person, he’s very kind and supportive.”
“Having a coach like him is very good for the team. I know him personally, and he’s someone who really supports players. Since he has played international cricket for a team like Australia, he knows what it takes. I believe it’s a very positive decision to have him on board.”
With Tait’s experience and positive rapport with players like Miraz, hopes are high that Bangladesh’s pace bowling unit will take a significant step forward under his guidance.
