The five-match T20I series between Bangladesh and Pakistan was initially scheduled to begin on May 25. However, rising tensions between India and Pakistan had cast doubt over the tour. During the ceasefire period, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sent a revised schedule to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
The BCB had been awaiting approval from the interim government of Bangladesh to proceed with the tour. On Thursday, that green light finally arrived.
BCB Media Committee Chairman Iftikhar Ahmed Mithu confirmed the development, stating that government clearance to tour Pakistan has been received. “We now need to consult with the players before making a final decision. Additionally, the availability of foreign coaches will also be considered,” he said.
Originally, Bangladesh was scheduled to play five T20Is in Pakistan between May 25 and June 3. However, due to the India-Pakistan border tension, changes were made to the Pakistan Super League (PSL) schedule. The remaining PSL matches are now set to end on May 25.
As a result, the Bangladesh-Pakistan series has also been rescheduled. The PCB has proposed a new itinerary, with the first match now slated for May 27 and the final one on June 5.
Before heading to Pakistan, Bangladesh will play two T20 matches against the UAE on May 17 and 19. Initially, the tour was supposed to include three ODIs and three T20Is. However, to better prepare both teams for the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup, the tour was converted into a five-match T20I series.
