Key Insights Found After BCB Raid

On April 15, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh conducted a raid at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) following allegations of corruption and irregularities, particularly related to ticket sales during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). A special three-member team from the ACC’s Dhaka office carried out the investigation.

Now, barely a month later, the ACC has returned to the BCB.

On Saturday at around 1 PM, a four-member ACC team entered the BCB headquarters at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. This time, the investigation focused on the newly adopted constitution of the BCB, the selection process for the Third Division Cricket League, and financial discrepancies.

Following preliminary inquiries, the ACC stated that they found evidence of irregularities in the selection process for the Third Division League. They also identified inconsistencies in how the BCB is functioning in relation to the procedural standards laid out in its own constitution.

However, the ACC has not yet reached any conclusions regarding financial misconduct. Assistant Director Raju Ahmed said that the commission would conduct a comprehensive investigation after gaining a full understanding of the BCB’s operational processes.
