Khulna Wins Over Rangpur U18 T20

Khulna Division began their Under-18 Women’s National Cricket Tournament campaign with a hard-fought 3-wicket victory over Rangpur Division in the opening match. The game was held on Tuesday, May 20, at the Khulna Divisional Stadium.

Rangpur won the toss and opted to bat first, but their innings was short-lived as they were bowled out for 87 runs in 16.3 overs. Akhi Akter was the top scorer for Rangpur with 28 runs.

For Khulna, Khadiza Khatun starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for just 12 runs in 3.3 overs. Captain Sadia Islam added to the pressure by picking up 3 wickets, while Afrin Mim took 2 wickets.

In reply, Khulna chased down the target, reaching 89 for 7 in 19.2 overs. Skipper Sadia Islam led from the front, scoring a team-high 27 runs, while Jannatul Zhim contributed with 20 runs.

For Rangpur, Bobby Khatun and Akhi Akter each claimed 2 wickets.

Earlier in the day, the tournament was officially inaugurated by Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar. The ceremony was presided over by Additional Divisional Commissioner (Development) Abu Sayed Md. Monzur Alam.
