The much-anticipated Bangladesh–Pakistan T20I series is finally set to take place. However, due to recent military tensions between India and Pakistan, the series has been shortened from five matches to three.
There is still uncertainty surrounding the final schedule of the series. While the official fixture has yet to be announced, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) website currently lists May 27 as the start date for the matches between the two sides.
Despite the lack of a formal schedule, Pakistan has announced its squad for the series.
In a major surprise, three of Pakistan’s star players — Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi — are not part of the squad. With Rizwan absent, Salman Ali Agha has been named captain, while experienced leg-spinner Shadab Khan returns to the squad as vice-captain.
The squad includes Sahibzada Farhan, who recently set a world record for most T20 centuries in a calendar year. Also returning from injury is Saim Ayub, who is set to make his international comeback in this series. In-form batter Fakhar Zaman, following his impressive showing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), has also been included in the squad.
Pakistan Squad:
Salman Ali Agha (captain), Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Irfan Khan, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Wasim, Naseem Shah, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub.
