Bangladesh-Pakistan Series Gets Army Protection

The Bangladesh national cricket team is set to tour Pakistan for a three-match T20I series, with the Pakistan government ensuring tight security for the entire event.

According to a report by Samaa TV, citing sources from Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior, the government has approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army for the duration of the series. In addition to the military, paramilitary forces will also be on duty to ensure the series is conducted smoothly and securely.

Tensions between India and Pakistan had initially cast doubt over the series, especially amid recent military conflicts. However, following a ceasefire, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) issued a revised schedule to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), which later confirmed their participation after receiving clearance from Bangladesh’s interim government.

Originally planned as a five-match series, the schedule was trimmed to three matches after a meeting in Dubai between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, BCB President Faruq Ahmed, and Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedin.

All three matches will be held at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore from May 28 to June 1. The series will kick off with the first T20I on May 28, followed by games on May 30 and June 1, all under the floodlights of the iconic stadium.

The Bangladesh team, led by Liton Das, will arrive in Pakistan on May 25 and will hold two days of training before the series begins. Each match is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM local time (9:00 PM Bangladesh time). The PCB is optimistic that the series will deliver exciting cricket under the lights of Gaddafi Stadium.
