First Four-Day Match Ends In Draw

Despite a solid batting performance, the Bangladesh Emerging team had to settle for a draw in their first four-day match against the South Africa Emerging side. The game, held at the Bir Shrestha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram, ended without a result.

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first, posting a respectable total of 308 runs in their first innings. In reply, the South Africa Emerging team managed 243 runs.

On the fourth and final day of the match, Bangladesh resumed their second innings at 5 for 2. However, things didn’t start well for the hosts as captain Shahadat Hossain Dipu was dismissed early, scoring just 2 runs off 5 balls with the team total on 8.

Ariful Islam then attempted to build a partnership with Aich Mollah, but the latter was dismissed after scoring 11 runs off 32 balls. Ariful himself played a cautious innings of 14 runs off 63 deliveries before falling.

In the latter stages of the innings, Pritom Kumar and Moin Khan provided some resistance. Pritom remained unbeaten on 21 off 73 balls, while Moin was not out on 18 off 44 deliveries. With Bangladesh at 83 for 5, both captains agreed to call the match a draw.

The second match of the series is scheduled to begin on May 27 and will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.
