Bangladesh’s national cricket team, still reeling from a disappointing series loss against the UAE, has no time to rest. Just days after that defeat, the team is now gearing up for their next challenge — a three-match T20I series against Pakistan. On Sunday morning, the first group of Bangladesh players and staff arrived in Pakistan.
This initial group includes 10 members, with players Hasan Mahmud, Tanvir Islam, Parvez Hossain Emon, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib among them. Team manager Nafees Iqbal and several other support staff also made the trip. The rest of the squad is expected to arrive in Pakistan on Monday.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) did not make the tour mandatory, which led to pacer Nahid Rana, strength and conditioning coach Nathan Kelly, and fielding coach James Pamment opting out of the series. In Rana’s absence, Mehedy Hasan Miraz has been added to the T20 squad. Miraz is already in Pakistan, playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), alongside leg-spinner Rishad Hossain, who is also currently in the country.
Meanwhile, Mustafizur Rahman, whose IPL campaign ended on Saturday, will travel to Pakistan directly from India.
All three matches of the T20I series will be held at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, starting on May 28, followed by the second match on May 30 and the final one on June 1.
