Bangladesh Women Advance to Asian Games Cricket Semifinals

Bangladesh has officially secured a place in the women’s cricket semifinals at the Asian Games. The quarterfinal match against China at the Korigi Athletic Park in Nagoya, Japan, was abandoned without a single ball being bowled. Officials were unable to begin play because the outfield remained too wet, and despite three separate inspections, the umpires ultimately declared the match abandoned.

Per tournament regulations, if a full 20-over match cannot be completed, officials first attempt to decide the result through a Super Over. However, since weather conditions made that impossible, the match result was determined by the teams’ current T20 rankings. Bangladesh, currently ranked 10th in the world, advanced over 37th-ranked China based on this higher standing.

In other competition news, the Bangladesh women’s football team is scheduled to face South Korea today. The match will kick off in Osaka at 1:00 PM Bangladesh Standard Time. This follows the team’s difficult opening match against North Korea, during which they conceded 10 goals.
