Sabbir Rahman, who recently featured for Partex Sporting Club in the just-concluded Dhaka Premier League (DPL), is set to begin a new stint in England’s Premier Division League. Although the out-of-favor national batter couldn’t make a significant impact with the bat in the DPL, he now looks ahead to a fresh challenge abroad.
In a statement to the media, Sabbir confirmed, “I will be playing for Uxbridge under Middlesex in the England Premier Division County Cricket League. The league starts on May 10. I’ve already played one practice match, where I scored 70 runs and took two wickets.”
Speaking before his departure, Sabbir said, “I’ve got a tour abroad. I’ve been in talks with a team in England to play for them. At the moment, there’s no national camp, no games, and I’m not in the team’s radar. So I’ll be playing there and taking my family with me. I hope to have a good time in England’s Premier Division.”
Reflecting on the recent DPL season, Sabbir noted, “This year’s DPL was good for the players. It could have been more organized, though—there were issues with payments and it was hard to reach some team owners. It felt a bit chaotic at times, but Alhamdulillah, it ended well.”
