Following days of escalating tensions, India launched missile strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and Azad Kashmir at midnight on Wednesday. In retaliation, Pakistan also responded with counterattacks. Amid this volatile situation, today’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) match has been postponed, and concerns are now rising over Bangladesh’s scheduled cricket tour to Pakistan later this month.
On Thursday, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director Akram Khan addressed the issue, saying, “We will definitely go if the situation normalises. We need to wait a few more days and see what Pakistan says. We’ll assess the situation based on their feedback.”
He added, “They know their own situation better than we do. Ultimately, it’s their decision, but if things worsen, we’ll have to decide whether we’ll proceed with the tour.”
Emphasizing the importance of player safety, Akram said:“The safety of our players is the top priority. That’s what matters most to us. I believe we should wait another two or three days to see how things develop.”
He also pointed out the broader regional implications:“Bangladesh is scheduled to tour Pakistan. India is also set to come to Bangladesh. Then there’s the Asia Cup. If the situation doesn’t calm down, things could become very difficult. God forbid, but hopefully, it won’t get any worse.”
