The Bangladesh Under-19 team went into the final match of their six-game youth ODI series against Sri Lanka with a 3-2 lead. However, the series decider, played on Thursday, was abandoned due to rain, handing Bangladesh a 3-2 series victory under the captaincy of Azizul Hoque Tamim.

The team returned to Bangladesh around noon today (Friday) and will now head to their respective homes for a short break. The next training camp for the Under-19 squad is scheduled to begin on May 20.

In Thursday’s match in Colombo, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. They were at 39.1 overs into their innings when heavy rain began, continuing for over three hours and forcing the match to be called off. Jawad Abrar was named player of the series for his standout performances.

Following their recent triumph in the Youth Asia Cup, this series win in Sri Lanka serves as a major boost for the young Tigers ahead of the 2026 ICC Under-19 World Cup, which will be held in Zimbabwe and Namibia. The team is also set to play several more series before the tournament.
