Following the recently implemented ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is taking steps to resume the Indian Premier League (IPL).

BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla stated, “The ceasefire is now in effect. In light of this new situation, BCCI officials and the IPL Governing Council will meet tomorrow (Sunday) to make a final decision regarding the resumption of the tournament. On May 8, during a match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamshala, play was halted at 10.1 overs due to escalating border tensions. The match was abandoned, and the IPL was subsequently suspended for a week. So far, 57 matches have been completed, with 12 league games and 4 playoff fixtures still to be played.

According to, as part of the accelerated plan to restart the tournament, franchises are working to bring their overseas players and coaching staff back to India.

It is expected that, pending approval from the Indian government, the IPL could resume around May 15.
