The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final. The total prize pool for this edition is $5.76 million, equivalent to around 70.8 crore Bangladeshi Taka, nearly double the amount offered in the previous cycle.
Australia and South Africa are set to face off in the final. The champion team will receive $3.6 million (approx. 44 crore BDT), while the runner-up will earn $2.16 million (approx. 26 crore BDT).
Though missing out on the final, India will earn a significant $1.4 million (around 17.5 crore BDT) for finishing third. New Zealand, in fourth place, will take home $1.2 million (around 14.5 crore BDT).
Teams finishing between fifth and ninth will also receive prize money:
England – $960,000 (approx. 11.3 crore BDT)
Sri Lanka – $840,000 (approx. 10.1 crore BDT)
Bangladesh – $720,000 (approx. 8.75 crore BDT)
West Indies – $600,000 (approx. 7 crore BDT)
Pakistan – $480,000 (approx. 5.75 crore BDT)
Bangladesh’s performance has shown noticeable improvement this cycle. In the previous two WTC editions (2019–21 and 2021–23), they finished at the bottom of the table—without a win in the first and only one win in the second. This time, Bangladesh won four of their 12 matches, including a historic series victory on Pakistani soil, which is considered a major achievement.
The WTC Final is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2025, at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
