Mumbai Indians Replace Three Players

by Sports Desk

Will Jacks, Ryan Rickelton, and Corbin Bosch have left the IPL due to national team commitments. In their absence, Mumbai Indians have temporarily signed three overseas replacements: Jonny Bairstow, Richard Gleeson, and Charith Asalanka.

Mumbai played their last league match against Punjab Kings on May 26. Following that game, the three foreign players departed, prompting the franchise to bring in replacements.

Mumbai Indians have not yet secured a spot in the playoffs, but they remain in contention. With two matches left to play, they currently sit in fourth place with 14 points. Gujarat Titans top the table with 18 points, while Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings are in second and third with 17 points each.

Among the replacements:

Jonny Bairstow, the English wicketkeeper-batter who went unsold in the IPL auction, joins Mumbai as a replacement for Will Jacks for a fee of ₹5.25 crore.

Richard Gleeson, the English fast bowler, replaces Ryan Rickelton and has been signed for ₹1 crore.

Charith Asalanka, the Sri Lankan middle-order batter, has been brought in to replace Corbin Bosch for ₹75 lakh.

These changes could prove crucial as Mumbai aims to make a final push for the playoffs.
