The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has resumed after a brief hiatus, but this time without the use of the Decision Review System (DRS). The reason: a shortage of qualified personnel required to operate the technology.
The suspension of DRS stems from the recent conflict between India and Pakistan, which temporarily halted the tournament. Although the league has now resumed, the technicians who manage the DRS—most of whom are from India—have chosen not to return to Pakistan, citing safety concerns. As a result, the DRS is currently unavailable for the remaining matches.
The PSL resumed on May 17, but since then, the matches have been played without DRS. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had initially considered relocating the remainder of the tournament to the United Arab Emirates and even made an official announcement. However, the Emirates Cricket Board ultimately declined to host the event, leaving the PCB with no choice but to complete the tournament in Pakistan.
Despite the absence of DRS, the tournament continues, with Quetta Gladiators already securing a spot in the final. On Friday, Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars will face off in the second qualifier, with the winner set to challenge Quetta in the championship match.
