Disney announced on Tuesday that it has finalized a multi-year agreement to stream all-electric Formula E races globally. The deal covers 144 territories, with content available on Disney+ and through ESPN and ESPN+ in the United States. While the financial specifics of the contract remain undisclosed, the league confirmed it will continue its existing broadcast television partnerships.
The upcoming 2026-27 season is set to include 21 rounds spread across 13 events, visiting global hubs such as Jeddah, Austin, Miami, Monaco, and Mexico City. The racing calendar kicks off on December 18 in Jeddah and is scheduled to wrap up with a final round in Tokyo on July 25 of next year. This acquisition bolsters Disney’s existing sports catalog, which currently features NBA games, select LALIGA football rights, and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Formula E, which is majority-owned by Liberty Global, is preparing to introduce its next-generation GEN4 electric vehicle. The league has touted the new model as the debut of the fastest and most technologically advanced electric racing car ever built. This streaming arrangement marks a shift from the league’s previous U.S. broadcast strategy, which saw races aired on CBS, Paramount+, and The Roku Channel.
