Reigning Formula 1 champion Lando Norris is expanding his influence in motorsport by launching his own racing organization, LN4 Fusion. The McLaren driver, who recently extended his contract with the team through 2030, announced the venture on Wednesday ahead of the Italian Grand Prix. The team is specifically designed to support emerging drivers as they navigate the junior racing ladder on their path toward Formula 1.
The new team’s livery will feature Norris’ signature black and neon yellow-green helmet design. LN4 Fusion is scheduled to begin competition in 2027, with entries planned for Formula 3, Italian Formula 4, and the Formula Regional European Championship. The organization also holds long-term ambitions to compete in Formula 2. While Norris has appointed experienced management from junior racing series to oversee daily operations, the team confirmed that he will remain actively involved in defining its organizational culture and identity.
Reflecting on the project, Norris described it as a long-term commitment rather than a short-term endeavor. He expressed his desire to stay deeply connected to the sport, noting that he wants to support a team that he can truly feel a part of. Beyond the racing team, Norris is establishing the LN4 Legacy Programme. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to young drivers who might otherwise lack the necessary support to reach their full potential, a cause he noted is personal to him because of the support he received from his own family during his career.
Norris joins a lineage of F1 champions who have ventured into team ownership or management. Other notable examples include four-time champion Max Verstappen, who has participated in endurance racing with his own sportscar team, and three-time champion Jack Brabham, who famously won a title while driving for his own eponymous team, which remained a fixture in Formula 1 for three decades. The report also notes that and because this is a very long-term project, it’s not just a two-year, five-year, 10-year, i think the main part of this for me is I get to simply stay very involved in racing.
