Inter Ready to Continue with Inzaghi if He Chooses to Stay, Says Club Chief

Inter Milan are eager to extend their partnership with manager Simone Inzaghi, regardless of the team’s heavy 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final, club president Giuseppe Marotta confirmed.

While the loss marked Inzaghi’s second disappointment in a Champions League final—following a narrow defeat to Manchester City in 2023—Marotta emphasized that the result will not influence the club’s decision regarding the coach’s future.

“Inzaghi still has a year left on his contract, and we had already planned to meet with him this week,” Marotta told reporters after the final in Munich. “This loss will not change that. Almost all of the credit for our positive run in recent seasons belongs to his professionalism and ability. If he wants to stay, we’re very happy to continue with him.”

Talks between Inter and Inzaghi are expected to begin soon, with speculation in Italian media suggesting a potential departure before next month’s expanded Club World Cup in the United States, which runs from June 14 to July 13.

Marotta made it clear that the club does not typically allow managers to enter the final year of their contract without clarity about the future. “There is no revolution underway,” he added. “We will meet to understand his intentions. From our side, we are proud and honored to have him.”

The Inter president also congratulated PSG on their maiden Champions League title, acknowledging that the Parisians were the superior side. “We have to move on quickly and focus on what’s ahead, particularly the Club World Cup,” said Marotta. “We’ll be representing Italy there along with Juventus.”
