Ronaldo’s future uncertain in Saudi Arabia

by Sports Desk

Cristiano Ronaldo has displayed impressive individual performances in the Saudi Pro League but the team’s overall results have not been as expected. Despite being the league’s top scorer with consistent goals for Al Nassr throughout the season, his team has slipped to fourth place in the points table. This has led to questions about whether the Portuguese superstar will be seen wearing the club’s jersey next season.

Ronaldo joined the Saudi club in 2022, and his contract is set to expire in June of this year. European media reports suggest that while Ronaldo is interested in extending his contract for two more years with Al Nassr, the club has currently suspended discussions, leading to speculation about his future.

Last Wednesday, Al Nassr suffered a 3-2 defeat against league leaders Al-Ittihad, further slipping down the points table. Currently, they are in fourth place, and if they remain in this position at the end of the season, they could miss out on qualifying for next year’s AFC Asian Champions League. Earlier, last week, Al Nassr was eliminated from the AFC Champions League semifinals after losing to Japanese club Kawasaki Frontale.

Since joining the Saudi club, Ronaldo has yet to win any league or continental titles. His only achievement so far is winning the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup. As he approaches two and a half years with the club, he may now be reflecting on his achievements.
